Agent-less discovery is performed by using a variety of protocols like SNMP, LLDP, CDP, ARP, to obtain the active IP addresses of all assets using the network. Then a reconciliation process starts to automatically enhance each IP address with a context of device type, physical or virtual server, its usage profile if obtainable etc. Additionally, its operational profile is developed by adding into the record its usage data. Additionally, its fault mgmt. profile is obtained by pulling data from the Trouble Ticket System. Additionally, the asset’s Change Mgmt. history is obtained.
